A 9-day wildlife and gorilla tour offers a focused and exciting adventure, combining the thrill of wildlife encounters with the unique experience of gorilla tracking. Here’s a suggested itinerary:


Day 1: Pick up in Kigali – transfer to Akagera National Park

Today after your breakfast from your hotel of residence, meet our guide and after transfer to Akagera National Park in the East of Rwanda bordering Tanzania. As you enter take an evening game drive and look out for some big five and other animal species like the Lions, Elephants, Buffaloes, Giraffe, warthogs, water bucks, bush bucks, oribi, hear beets among others respectively. Dinner and overnight at Akagera Game Lodge. Meal plan: Half-Board

Day 2: Game drive and boat ride on Lake Ihema

After early breakfast go for a morning game drive in Akagera national park in search for the big five like lions, leopard, elephants, buffalos, other game giraffe, hyenas, waterbucks, bush bucks, oribi, warthogs, hartebeest, and different bird species. Return to the lodge for refreshment and lunch. In the afternoon you may chose to go for a canoe ride on Lake Ihema and here you will spot aquatic wildlife like hippos, crocodiles and much more birds and animals along the shores of the lake. Return to lodge for dinner and overnight.

Morning game drive in Akagera – transfer to Ruhengeri

This day start with a morning game drive and return for breakfast, then drive to Ruhengeri. With a lunch stopover en-route, after take a visit to different communities for cultural encounter. Learn how to produce local liqueur from sorghum and bananas, hand crafts and how to make traditional local dish. After all these experiences proceed to Ruhengeri for dinner and overnight at Mtn Gorilla viewt Lodge/ La Palme Hotel.

Day 4: Gorilla trekking

After break fast drive to Tshivanga Visitor Centre for briefing by the trekkers. after you will then acompanied by armed game rangers. The gorilla group that you will visit will depend on the assignment of travellers to the seven habituated gorilla groups. Park rangers have already left to locate the 7 habituated Gorilla groups that are accessible to visitors. You will be assigned to a specific group of gorillas. Groups of trekkers will have a maximum of 8 visitors per gorilla family. Your trek will vary in length depending on which gorilla group you have been assigned to and will commence at about 7,000 feet of altitude in the upper terraced slopes of the volcano. Soon you will enter the forest of bamboo and thick undergrowth. In the forest you will be allowed at least an hour in the presence of the these gorillas. Return to the lodge for relaxation and overnight at Mt Gorilla View Lodge | La Palme Hotel.

Day 5: transfer to Volcanoes – Nyungwe

After breakfast drive toNyungwe via Kigali for a city tour and lunch from there head to Nyungwe forest National Park. En-route to Nyungwe you may visit the old King’s Palace in Nyanza or a visit to the National Museum and Mirambi Genocide memorial site. Dinner and overnight at Nyungwe Forest Lodge or Gisakura guest house

Day 6 and 7: Chimpanzee trekking experience

After breakfast prepare for briefing at park head office by the randers after proceed for chimpanzee trekking. This experience avails to you a variety of wildlife forest species like butterflies, birds and primates of the forest such as the L’Hoest’s monkey, grey-cheeked mangabeys are often sighted. The birding here is spectacular likely species may include; Giant hornbills, great blue turacos, red-breasted sparrow hawks are amongst the specials, of which 24 are endemic to this section of the Rift Valley. Return to lodge for lunch and after take an evening walk around the Tea plantation. Dinner and overnight at Nyungwe forest lodge or Gisakura guest house.

Day 8: Nyungwe Canopy walk – Forest walk/ birding

After a morning breakfast, start your brave day with a canopy forest walk and continue with primate and bird watching in this tropical rain forest for a full day forest guided walk. On this long walk, you will visit the Kamiranzovu waterfalls and enjoy your picnic lunch from there. On this walk expect to see a variety of butterflies, birdlife species and also primates like monkeys and apes. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.at Nyungwe forest lodge or Gisakura guest house.

Day 9: Nyungwe-Kigali

After breakfast drive to Kigali for a city tour, visit the local markets for shopping souvenirs before being transferred to the airport in time for your onward flight
