Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe/Kampala |
You will be welcomed by your expert guide who will provide knowledge and assistance throughout your safari,. transfer to Lake victoria hotel for check in. have breakfast, after we proceed birding enroute to Mabamba in search for the Shoebill other birds expected to encounter include swallows, Great Blue Turaco, Eastern Gray Plantain-eater, African Pied Hornbill, Splendid Glossy Starling, Orange weaver, Slender-billed Weavers, Golden Backed weaver. After lunch we can have optional birding in Entebbe Botanical Gardens, where we’ll see both forest and lakeshore birds Dinner and overnight Lake victoria hotel |
Day 2: Entebbe – Murchison Falls National Park (7 hrs)
After breakfast in the morning transfer to Masindi where we shall have our lunch. ater proceed to Murchison fall via the top of the fall watching out for the black billed barbet, westren necktor, yollew mantled widowbird, Red sholdered Cuckoo shrike, White Headed Barbet, and other savanah special birds inculde; the White-crested Turaco, Lesser and Greater Honeyguide, Yellow Mantled and Black Winged Bishops, Bronze-tailed Starling, lesser Blue and Great Blue Eared Starlings, Black, Cardinal and Nubian Woodpecker Dinner and overnight at Paraa Safari Lodge.
Day 3: Murchison Falls National Park
fter breakfast take a boat trips to the delta area in search for the Shoebill as well other water birds, while at the delta. Superb views can be had of this wonderful bird., other birds include; the Red-throated and Northern Carmine Bee-eater, Saddle-billed, Yellow Billed Stork, Hauglins Falcon, Senegal Thick-knee, Rock Pratincole, Giant, Woodland, Grey Headed Kingfishers, Pygmy Kingfishers, also expected mammals include the Cape Buffalo, Elephant, Rothschild’s Giraffe, and many others. After lunch on the after noon game drive look out for Heuglin’s Francolins Northern Red Faced Barbet, Black Billed Barbet, Swallow-tailed Bee-eaters and Blue-breasted Bee-eaters, Northern Carmine Bee-eaters, the giant
Day 4: Murchison Falls – Budongo Kaniyo Pabid
Today we start early with our picnic lunch and drive through Budongo Kaniyo Pabid area do birding in the forest, in search for the Puvel’s Illadopsis, after transfer to Masindi for our dinner and over night stay at Masindi Hotel .
Day 5: Royal Mile and Busingiro
After break fast go birding along the Royal Mile, a truly spectacular road with forest canopy towering far overhead. There is a good system of trails in the forest, birds to look out for include; the Nahan’s Francolin, Forest Flycatcher, Dusy Long Tailed Cuckoo, graceful Cassin’s and Sabine’s Spinetail, Blue-throated Roller, White-thighed Hornbill, Chestnut-capped Flycatcher, Lemon Bellied Crombec, Yellow-browed Camaroptera, Tit Hylia, Woodland Warbler, Forest Robin, Yellow Billed, Grey Throated, Hairy Breasted and Yellow Spotted Barbet, Black Billed Turaco, Spotted, Plain, Slender Billed, Red Tailed Bristlebill and Black-capped Apalis among others. also Lookout for primates like the Blue, Red Tailed and the black and white Colobus monkey, luckly the chimps dinner and over night stay at Masindi Hotel
Day 6: Kibale Forest & Bigodi Swamp
Leave Murchison Falls heading for Kibale forest National Park, we travel through Fort Portal take lunch along the way. Arrive late evening for a nocturnal walk in the Kibale forest lookout for Galagos, Pottos and Bush babies.
Dinner and overnight at Ndali Lodge/ Primate lodge/ Rwenzori View Guesthouse/ Kanyanchu community Banda’s.
Day 7: Kibale Forest & Bigodi Swamp
After breakfast, drive to Kibale forest starting point to embark on a morning forest walk in search of chimpanzee. As we trail, we may also encounter others of the 13 primates species in this forest which include among others, Gray Cheeked Mangabeys, Redtailed Monkey, Olive Baboon, Black and White Colobus, etc. Afternoon take a nature walk in the Bigodi swamp sanctuary; return for Dinner and overnight at Ndali Lodge/ Primate lodge/ Rwenzori View Guesthouse/ Kanyanchu community Banda’s.
Day 8: Kibale Forest – Queen Elizabeth National Park (3 hrs)Queen Elizabeth National Park
After breakfast, check out and depart for Queen Elizabeth National Park. The drive takes us via the slopes of the Rwenzories and slopes down south wards to Mweya Safari Lodge. We take an afternoon launch boat cruise on Kazinga Channel, a place believed to host the largest concentration of Hippopotamus in Africa. with a spectacular bird viewing opportunity. look out for water birds that roost in between the Edward and George lakes and some migrating species like the Wagtails, African Skimmer, Gulls and Terns Dinner and Overnight; Mweya Safari Lodge The Bush Lodge
Day 9: Whole day birding in Queen Elizabeth National park
Today we immensely explore Queen Elizabeth National Park. Birds on this drive are numerous and may include among others the Wahlberg’s, Brown Snake, Short Toed Snake and Martial Eagle, Red-necked Spurfowl, Black-rumped and Common Buttonquails, African Crake, Hollub’s Golden and Lesser Masked Weavers, Black Coucal, Black Lored and Arrow Marked Babbler, Verreaux’s Eagle-Owl Copper, Scarlet Chested and Red-chested, Broad Tailed and African Moustached Warbler. Day 10: Queen Elizabeth National park to Bwindi impenetrable national park
After an early breakfast, and with our picnic lunch, then transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable forest birding enroute though the Ishasha sector which provides chances of viewing the tree climbing lions and other game, lookout for grassland birds including the White Winged Tit, Black Cuckoo, Ovambo Sparrow Hawk, pipits, Larks, African Cuckoo Hawk, e.t.c. Day 11:Birding in Buhoma (Bwindi National Park )
After breakfast go out birding looking out for the Black-billed and Rwenzori Turaco, Western Green Tinkerbird, Olive, Elliot’s and Fine-banded Woodpecker, African Green-Broadbill, Mountain, Yellow whiskered and Yellow-streaked Greenbul, African Hill Babbler, Mountain Illadopsis, Grey Cuckoo Shrike Yellow-eyed Black Flycatcher, Red-faced Woodland Warbler, Grauer’s Warbler, Mountain Yellow Warbler, Chestnut-throated Apalis, Collared Apalis, Stripe-breasted Tit, Rwenzori Batis, Montane Sooty Boubou, Blue-headed Sunbird, Regal Sunbird. Back to the lodge for Dinner and Overnight Mahogany Springs Lodge Buhoma community Camp
Day 12: Birding En-route to Ruhizha
After breakfast then transfer to Ruhija while birding enroute. Some of the bird spp we expect to encounter include the Western Bronze Naped Pigoen, White Starred Robin, Cassin’s Grey Flycatcher, Grey-Green Bush-Shrike, Black Faced Rufous Warbler, Mountain Wagtail, Tropical Boubou, Mountain Buzzard and Barred and Dusky Long Tailed Cuckoo, White Headed Wood Hopoe, Ayre’s Hawk Eagle, Ludhur’s and Lagden’s Bush-Shrike, Chestnut Throated Apalis, White Eyed Slaty Flycatcher, Stripe Breasted Tit, Augar Buzzard Streaky Seed-Eater and many more. Day 13: Whole day Birding to Mubwindi Swamp
After brakfast we go for a whole day birding in Mubwindi swamp. Mubwindi swamp is ranked as Africa’s No.1 birding spot by the African Bird Club. This is the birding spot where we find the Grauer’s Rush Warbler, African Green Broadbill and most Albertine Rift Endemics which inlude the Blue Throated Brown Sunbird, Handsome Francolin, Blue Headed Sunbird, Purple Breasted Sunbird Blue Throated Brown Sunbird, Red Throated Alethe, Mountain Illadopsis, Collard and Mountain Masked Apalis, Blue Throated Sunbird, Yellow Eyed Black Flycatcher etc. and other high altitude bird we may see include; the White Tailed Crested Flycatcher, Stripe Breasted Tit, Abyssinian Hill Babbler, Bar Tailed and Narina Tragon, and other. late evening return back to our lodge for dinner and over night stay.
Day 14: Briding to Lake Mburo national park, afternoon boat ride , night game drive
Today after breakfast check out and tranfer to lake Mburo national park birding enroute, using the Kabala route we shall stop at different interesting spots. Have a lunch stop over at Igongo Cultural center, after proceed to Lake Mburo. While in Lake Mburo national park look out for mammals like the Eland, Topi, Zebra, Impala etc, In the evening go for a boat ride along lake Mburo where we hardly miss the African Finfoot, Giant Kingfisher. White Backed and Black Crowned Night Heron, At night we shall go for night drive is such for the Black Shouldered Nightjar, northern Tanzania Fiery Necked Nightjar, nocturnal mammals and Bush Babies. Dinner and over night stay.at Mihingo Lodge or Arcadia Cottages.
Day 15: Morning walking safari in the park – Transfer to Kampala
Early start of the day after breakfast with our picnic lunch go for a safari nature walk guided by a ranger in search for special savannah birds spp like the Green Capped Eremomel, Green wood hopoe, Yellow Bellied Apalis, red headed weever, Blue cheeked bee-eater, Tabora Cisticola, Lesser masked weever, Green Backed Woodpecker, sulpher breested bush-shrike, Red Faced Barbet, Buff Bellied Warbler, Red Headed Weaver, afternoon tranfer to Rubango Forest in search for special forest birds spp. After this experience return to the lodge fordinner and over night stay.
Day 16: Visit Mabamba swamp in search for a shoe bill
After break fast, transfer to Kampala with a stop at the equator for photos or souvenir shopping in Kampala. Can then either transfer to airport or drop off at a hotel of your choice for check in
